What You Will Do

• Focus on development and maintenance of the VictoriaTraces project, our distributed tracing solution.

• Continuously learn about industry distributed tracing solutions, understand the pain points they solve for users, and collaborate with us to shape VictoriaTraces’ roadmap.

• Contribute to improving documentation so users can find answers more easily on their own.

• Collaborate with the open-source community by participating in issue discussions, providing feedback on pull requests, and helping users across Slack, Telegram, GitHub, and other channels.

• Maintain core functionality, with a focus on issues that impact everyday usability.

• Help users get the most value out of VictoriaTraces and VictoriaStack as a whole.

• Look for ways to simplify code and improve usability while preserving backward compatibility.

• Improve existing features where it makes sense, avoiding unnecessary complexity.

• Help keep the codebase simple, understandable, and maintainable over time.

• Ensure that changes and contributions stay aligned with product direction and real user needs.

• Help maintain system quality and performance by strengthening existing tests and adding new ones where needed.

About You

• 2+ years building and operating production systems.

• Ability to understand, write, and review Golang code.

• Understanding of the observability domain and distributed systems.

• User-focused, willing to help debug real-world issues.

• High ownership and ability to drive tasks independently.

• Strong written and spoken English required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Prometheus/VictoriaMetrics, VictoriaTraces/Jaeger, OpenTelemetry.

• Experience with Grafana.

• Experience with Kubernetes.

• Contributions to open-source projects.

Interview Process:

2. Technical Interview (1 hour): Dive deep into your technical skills and problem-solving approach with our engineering team.

3. Second Technical Interview (Optional, 1 hour): Meet with one of our founders to discuss your experience, technical interests, and alignment with VictoriaMetrics’ engineering culture and vision.

4. Offer: Embark on your journey with VictoriaMetrics.
